Manual Osteopathy

Restore Movement. Reduce Pain. Improve Your Quality of Life.

At Prairie Manual Osteopath & Massage Therapy Medical Clinic, we believe that the human body functions as one interconnected system. When joints become restricted, muscles tighten, fascia loses mobility, or circulation is impaired, pain and dysfunction can develop throughout the body. Our Manual Osteopathic practitioners use gentle, evidence-informed, hands-on techniques to identify and address the underlying mechanical restrictions that contribute to pain and reduced mobility. Rather than simply treating symptoms, our comprehensive assessment focuses on how your bones, joints, muscles, fascia, nerves, lymphatic system, and connective tissues work together. Every treatment plan is individualized to help restore balance, improve movement, reduce discomfort, and support your body's natural healing processes. Whether you are experiencing chronic pain, recovering from an injury, managing postural problems, or seeking preventative care, our integrated approach aims to improve your overall function and well-being.

Craniosacral Therapy

Calm Your Nerves. Release Tension. Improve Your Inner Balance

Craniosacral Therapy is an exceptionally gentle manual technique that works with subtle movements of the craniosacral system surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The goal is to reduce restrictions affecting the nervous system while encouraging deep relaxation and improved tissue mobility. May Help With Stress-related tension Headaches Neck discomfort Jaw dysfunction (TMJ) Sleep disturbances Chronic muscular tightness Nervous system regulation Benefits Encourages relaxation Supports nervous system balance Reduces muscular guarding Improves tissue mobility Enhances overall well-being

Joint Mobilization

Restore Slide. Reduce Stiffness. Improve Your Range of Motion

Joint Mobilization uses slow, controlled passive movements to improve joint mechanics without forceful manipulation. This technique is commonly used when joints become stiff following injury, prolonged inactivity, arthritis, repetitive strain, or postural dysfunction. Benefits Increases joint mobility Reduces stiffness Improves flexibility Decreases pain Restores functional movement Enhances physical performance

Common Indications Muscle imbalance Joint restriction Pelvic dysfunction Neck stiffness Back pain Hip restriction Shoulder dysfunction Sports injuries Benefits Restores normal muscle length Improves flexibility Reduces muscle spasm Enhances joint mobility Improves posture Decreases pain Supports functional movement

Therapist performing Mayofascial Release Techniques

Myofascial Release

Restoring Movement, Reducing Pain, and Improving Quality of Life

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialized hands-on manual therapy technique used by trained Manual Osteopaths to identify and release restrictions within the body's fascial system. Fascia is a continuous three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and internal organs. When healthy, fascia remains flexible and allows smooth movement throughout the body. However, due to injury, repetitive strain, poor posture, surgery, inflammation, stress, or prolonged inactivity, fascia can become tight, thickened, and restricted. Unlike conventional massage that primarily focuses on muscles, Myofascial Release targets both the fascia and the underlying muscles using slow, sustained pressure and gentle stretching techniques. The objective is to reduce fascial tension, improve tissue mobility, restore normal biomechanics, and relieve pain naturally without forceful manipulation.

Osteo Articulation

Restore Joint Play. Enhance Mobility. Unlock Natural Movement.

In the realm of manual osteopathy, Osteo Articulation represents a specialized, high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) technique combined with precise rhythmic joint mobilization. Unlike general massage or passive stretching, Osteo Articulation focuses on the restoration of physiological joint space and the neurological feedback loops governing movement. For the Medical Graduate, this is the bridge between structural anatomy and functional biomechanics. This technique involves the application of specific, controlled forces to a joint in a precise direction, designed to engage the joint’s restrictive barrier. By doing so, it stimulates mechanoreceptors, resets muscle spindle tension, and promotes synovial fluid diffusion. It is not a "crack" for the sake of a pop; it is a calculated biomechanical intervention aimed at correcting somatic dysfunctions.

Therapist performing Visceral Manipulation Techniques at Prairie Osteopath Medical Clinic Regina SK

Visceral Manipulation

A Gentle, Whole-Body Manual Osteopathic Approach to Restoring Organ Mobility, Reducing Pain, and Improving Function

Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a specialized hands-on manual osteopathic technique that focuses on restoring the natural mobility and movement of the body's internal organs (viscera), their surrounding connective tissues, ligaments, fascia, and neurovascular structures. Every organ within the abdomen, chest, and pelvis possesses a small but essential amount of physiological movement that allows it to function harmoniously with breathing, posture, digestion, circulation, and body movement. When these natural movements become restricted because of injury, surgery, inflammation, infection, chronic stress, poor posture, pregnancy, or repetitive strain, the body often compensates by placing abnormal tension on muscles, fascia, joints, nerves, and blood vessels.
