Manual osteopathic

Manual osteopathy is a holistic, hands-on treatment modality well-suited to addressing chronic low-back pain, particularly when it stems from postural issues and irregular walking patterns. In Canada, this approach is drug-free and non-invasive, focusing on treating the root cause of pain rather than just the symptoms

Core Features of Manual Osteopathy

The Whole-Body Approach

Your chief complaint may be one or two things—knee pain, a stiff shoulder. But as medical qualified and  manual ostepath, we know the body doesn't work in isolation. That's why we assess everything: your posture, your gait, your standing mechanics, and a full battery of special orthopaedic tests. Only then do we truly understand the root cause and design a treatment plan that works." (e.g., flat feet causing an abnormal gait) can create compensation patterns that lead to pain in another (e.g., the lower back)

Flat feet don’t have to hold you back.

Flat Feet

Healthy foot arches act like natural springs. Every time you take a step, your arches absorb the impact of your body weight hitting the ground.

  • With Flat Feet: Because the arch is collapsed, that downward impact isn’t properly absorbed. Instead, the force of each step travels straight up your legs and directly into your knees, hips, and lower spine, leading to micro-trauma and soreness over time.

Loss of shock absorption

Over Pronation & Inward Rotation

When your arches collapse, your feet naturally roll inward as you walk. This is called overpronation.

    • The Chain Reaction: As the foot rolls inward, it forces the shin bone (tibia) and the thigh bone (femur) to rotate inward as well.

    • This inward twisting forces your hips to tilt forward, misaligning the pelvis.

How we manage low-back pain?

Deep Tissue Release

Elbow compression + cross-fiber friction

These aim to mechanically break adhesions, increase blood flow, and reset muscle spindle tone. Using a metal tool (Gua Sha) or knuckles to scrape along the paravertebral gutters to break down fascial restrictions.

Deep Piriformis Ischeamic Compressions

Ischeamic Compression with Elbow

The “Piriformis Pin” (Ischemic Compression): The therapist locates the piriformis (midpoint between sacral hiatus and greater trochanter) and applies sustained, graded compression with an elbow or specialized tool for 60–90 seconds. This triggers a reflexive release.

Percussion Therapy

A manual thumb compresses superficially; a gun's force travels through fat/fascia into deep muscle layers.

Why Speed + Depth Works for Knots Unlike static pressure (ischemic compression) which relies on a sustained "stretch reflex" fatigue, percussion uses rapid, repetitive impulses (20–40 Hz) . This creates three unique physiological effects:
